John H. Varble, Jr., 81, of 1021 Worthington Rd., Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. and was a retired oil field worker. He was a U. S. Army & Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Salvation Army where he was a Senior Soldier and in the Mens Club for 31 years and was involved in the Keenagers Program for 12 years. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 696 and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer F. & Agnes A. Varble and a brother, William J. Varble.
Surviving is his wife of 30 years,Wilma Lott Varble, three sons and their wives, Chris & Faye Varble, Kenny & Cathie Varble, and Frank M. & Carolyn Scott, all of Owensboro, three daughters, Sandra Crowe of Columbus, Ga., Ann & husband Dr. Julio Arroyo of W. Columbia, S. C., and Elizabeth Ann & husband Ken Parks of LaFayette, Ga., 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two sisters, Iva Hubbard of Owensboro and Sue & husband Bill Cockrill of Tuckerman, Ark., and a sister-in-law, Rebecca Pruden Varble of Mt. Juliet, Tn.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday November 1, at the Salvation Army. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 10:00-12:00 Wednesday at the funeral home and from 1:00 until service time at the Salvation Army.
