John Kenneth Ken Thomas, 74, of Owensboro, died Monday, October 25, 2004 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born October 3, 1930 in Graves County, Kentucky to the late Elisha and Elizabeth Piercall Thomas. Mr. Thomas retired from Sears after 30 years where he was the Division Manager of Home Improvement. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral; Owensboro Ballroom Dance Club; Coterie Dance Club in Evansville; restored old cars; and enjoyed woodworking and golf. He volunteered for Owensboro Catholic High School. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Hilton Thomas and two sisters, Miriam Higgins and Violet Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita Beth Hagan Thomas; a son and daughter-in-law, Myles and Ruth Ann Thomas of Leitchfield; four daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Steve Roberts of Floyds Knobs, IN, Sharon and Doug Wathen, Leah and Greg McCarty, and Elaine Thomas all of Owensboro; ten grandchildren, Brent and Jena McCarty, Stephanie and Nicole Thomas, Elizabeth and Kristen Wathen, Josh, Adam, and Amanda Thomas, and Sean Roberts; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Lou Ann Thomas of Cordova, TN; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Justin Robb of St. Clair Shores, MI and Lucy and Dean Yates of Mayfield, KY.

Funeral services are 2 P.M. Thursday, October 28, 2004 at St. Stephen Cathedral with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 2-8 P.M on Wednesday and after 11 A.M. on Thursday. Prayers will be said at 6:30 P.M. on Wednesday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Owensboro Catholic High School.
