John Wesley Stirsman

February 26, 1940 — November 3, 2004

John Wesley Stirsman, 64, of 1230 Concord Terrace, Owensboro, died Wednesday, November 3, at his home. He was a retired insurance sales representative for AIG Insurance for 38 years. Mr. Stirsman was a member of YMCA for 25 years, and won numerous awards with AIG. He was a member of First General Baptist Church, and enjoyed attending Bridgepointe Baptist Church. His interests were his love of his wife, children and grandchildren, and traveling, walking, and helping underprivileged families. A native of Greenville, born to the late Glen and Jessie Stirsman, he was also preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence, Andrew, William Glenn, Jr., and Leamon Earle Stirsman.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Glenda Evitts Stirsman, daughters, Tammy Stirsman Leach and husband Steve of Lexington, Ky., and Gena Stirsman Boling of Owensboro, grandchildren, Tyler and Tara Hagan of Lexington, Jonathan Shacklett and Bryson Boling of Owensboro, and step grandchildren, Blake Leach of Pensacola, Florida, and Arthur Leach of Hartford, Ky., his brothers,Willie G. Stirsman of Central City and Elmon Ray Stirsman of Evansville, Indiana, sisters, Ina Meeks of Salinas, California, Inez Evitts and Shirley Stirsman of Greenville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funera lservices will be held, Sunday, November 7, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and after 12 p.m Sunday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Lupus Foundation, A Christmas Wish , or Bridgepointe Church.
