John Allen Smith

John Allen Smith, Sr., 63, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, July 8 at his home with his family by his side. Mr. Smith was born November 25, 1953 in Daviess County to the late Thomas and Mary Armes Smith. John was a selfless man who loved his wife, children, and grandkids. He worked for over 20 years at Owensboro Brick and Tile and retired in 2014. John enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, playing cards, watching wrestling, and his beer.

Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Smith and sister, Von Hudson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years, Mary Estes Smith; son, John Smith Jr.; daughters, Shibaan and Shonna Smith all of Owensboro; brothers, Wayne Smith and Donald Smiley; sisters, Elsie Smith, Ruby Decker, Mary "Sissy" Stewart, and Judy Ashley; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday after 9:00 AM.
