John Powell

Dr. John Powell, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 11, 2006 at his home. Dr. Powell was a Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeon, a former member of Bellevue Baptist Church, and attended the University of Kentucky prior to graduating from the Washington University School of Medicine. He enjoyed racquetball, hunting, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Dr. Powell was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Richard Powell, M.D., in 1992.

Survivors include his fianc Tammy Schaff, of Centerville, Ohio; his sons, Luke Powell, Daniel Powell, Philip Powell, and Samuel Powell, all of Owensboro; his mother, Elizabeth Powell of Harrodsburg; a brother, Brian Powell of Lexington; and a sister, Ann Powell Hill of Harrodsburg.

Services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Bellevue Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
