John Daniel Peveler

John Daniel Peveler, Jr., 61, of Rockport passed away Friday, August 21, 2009 at his home. Born in Daviess County on October 6, 1947, he was a graduate of Daviess County High School where he played basketball and baseball; retired from ALCOA after 35 years; was a member of Masonville Baptist Church; was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Peveler was everyone's best friend. Children adored him. His passion was his love of horses and all animals. Mr. Peveler was preceded in death by his father, John D. Peveler, Sr.

Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Docia B. Peveler; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Leslie Peveler of Utica; a daughter, Amy Drooker of Atlanta; a step-daughter, Britan (and Freddy) Cheney of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren; Madallyn Peveler, Jake Peveler, and Isabelle Drooker; his mother, Anna Mae Peveler of Owensboro; a sister, Shirley (and James) Medcalf of Whitesville; and a brother-in-law; Derek (and Deb) Williams of Springfield, MO.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home with Brother Kimbrough Simmons officiating and military honors rendered by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Monday and after 12 noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.
