John L. Oliver passed away February 11, 2017 in the arms of his loving wife. John was born on November 28th, 1946 to the late Jess and Mary Boswell Oliver. John graduated from Owensboro High School in 1964. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from Western Kentucky University. John began teaching at Utica Middle School and later taught English, government, history, and theater at Apollo High School. After seven years of teaching, he operated his own business, Camelot Marketing, for 37 years. John was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ordinary Men's Sunday School Class. John loved his family, but also found enjoyment on the driving range and fairways of the Owensboro Country Club. He was an avid reader, speaker, boat captain and friend to all that knew him. He was a good listener and witty with a flair for the dramatic. John told great stories, gave wonderful advice, and enjoyed sharing bits of trivia that only he seemed to know.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Dana Oliver.
