John P. OConner, age 67, of 2 Plum Street, Owensboro, died Saturday, March 29, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he worked for Green River Steel 19 years, and was the owner and operator of OConner Auction and Realty Co, for 22 years before retiring. Inducted into the Auctioneers Hall of Fame in Overland, Kansas in 1988, he served on the Kentucky Board of Auctioneers for 20 years. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church in Owensboro.
He is survived by three daughters,Colleen McClary, Shannon OConner Dohrenwend, and Kelly OConner, all of Owensboro, and five grandchildren. A daughter, Michelle Bishop preceded him in death in 1982 as well as his late wife, Patricia in January of 1996.
A gathering of friends will be held at Immaculate Parish Hall on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be held at Immaculate Catholic Church.
