John S. Miller

December 31, 1919 — March 17, 2015

John S. Miller, 95, of Louisville, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville. He was born December 31, 1919 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Pleasant Jackson and Lydia McFarland Miller. Mr. Miller was a retired Certified Public Accountant with Alexander and Company and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, church treasurer, choir member, and also a member of the Maverick Sunday School Class. Mr. Miller loved music and playing the saxophone. He played together with a group of friends called the "Melody Masters". He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater and the Normandy Invasion. He was a Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow. He was also preceded in death by his wife Jackie Miller in 2011, daughter, Dr. Susan Miller Keating on March 12, 2015, and sisters, Betty M. Wilson and Evelyn M. Massie.

Surviving is his son, Philip W. Miller and wife Paula of Brunswick, GA, son-in-law, Joseph P. Keating, Simpsonville, KY, grandchildren, Brien Miller and wife Allie, Brandie Vanover and husband Stephen, Bryan Keating and wife Anita, and Maggie Sivils and husband Michael, great grandchildren, Aerial, Alexis, Mackenzie, Johnavin, Gavin K., Gavin O., Logan, Stephen, and Mariah, a niece, Sally W. Plain and husband Scott, and two nephews, Bill Wilson, Jr. and wife Gay and David Massie and wife Colleen.

A service for sharing memories will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 23, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Private entombment will be held in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
