John William Millay Sr., 89, of Owensboro, died December 12, 2013 at Owensboro Health regional Hospital. He was born March 3, 1924 in Maceo to the late Roland and Jessie Potter Millay. John last worked at TVA and was a retired iron worker with Local # 103. He was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church in Owensboro. John also was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Wayne Milam, brother, Herbert Milam and a sister, Minnie Rose Strobel.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Beatrice Bundren Millay; children, Patsy (Robert) Milam, Mary Jane (Larry) Jerome, John W. (Tina) Millay Jr., Deborah Millay and Terry (Jeannie) Millay all of Owensboro; grandchildren, Jennifer Daley, Carey (Chris) Mewes, Jillian Milam, Kristie McCarty (Adam) Wright, Ben Ioakimides, Ashley, Ryan, and Austin Millay and Adam, Alex and Laramie Millay and Clayton Nice; great grandchildren, Wayne Daley, Nathan, Katie and Logan Mewes.
Services will be noon Monday, December 16, 2013 at Glenn Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Franklin Skaggs presiding. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday and after 9 AM on Monday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Owensboro Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
