John Elliott Maske

John Elliott Maske, 51, of Philpot passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024, at his home. The Daviess County native was born March 28, 1973, to Frank Maske and Judith Reid. John graduated from Daviess County High School, class of 1991. He attended OCTC with classes in Forestry but eventually became a Refrigeration Tech and worked for ICEE of almost 10 years. John needed a liver transplant when he was only 20 years old and outlived all expectations. He coached youth baseball in Daviess County with his son. Always laughing and making others laugh, John wanted to be a comedian like Jim Carrey. He was enthusiastic about hunting and fishing, an avid Star Wars fan, and a gamer. John had an affection for animals, especially Great Danes. He owned several animals throughout his life: his last being Edgar Allen Maske. Everyone benefited from John’s grilling skills, including himself as he was a Foodie and loved to eat. Most of all, John loved his family and being involved in their lives. 

 John also was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, John and Freddie Maske and Lucian and Maurine Elliott; his uncle, Dudley Maske. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his two children, Morgan Maske and Colton Maske (Shalomé); stepdaughter, Ericka Wheatley (Aaron); mother, Judy Reid (Bob); his father, Frank Maske (Teresa); four grandchildren, Cayden Wheatley, Conner Wheatley, Gracelynn Dycus, and Elliott Cole Maske; brother, David Maske (Lori); half-sister, Ruth Bourne; Aunt Sharon and Uncle Dennis; multiple cousin, nieces and nephews. 

 Visitation will be Thursday, October 17 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
