John R. Jarboe, 79, of 1817 Hacienda Lane, Owensboro, died Saturday, May 24, 2003 at his home.
He was born June 5, 1923 to the late Margaret (Elder) and Thomas Jarboe. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. He was retired from Halls Furniture in California. A daughter, Mary Ann Tyler, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of nine years Lillian Payne Weafer Jarboe, a son and a daughter-in-law, John and Margaret Jarboe of Owensboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Jim Norris of Deanefield and Alice and Buzz Greer of Whitesville; five step-sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Pam Weafer, Mike and Sharon Weafer, Jim and Dixie Weafer all of Owensboro, Rick and Dee Weafer of Indiana, and Steve Weafer of Lexington; four step-daughters and sons-in-law, Lucy and Jerry Goetz, Barbara and Joe Cecil, Janice and Joe Baker all of Owensboro, and Reenee and Vince Fogle of Stanley; six grandchildren, John and Adam Jarboe of Fordsville, Troy Greer and Edward Krack of Evansville, and Toni Jones and Teri Murphy of Whitesville; twenty-eight step grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren; three sisters Jessie Aull and Louise Yeckering both of Owensboro and Audrey Greenlee of Panama City, Florida; two brothers, Paul Jarboe of Owensboro and Hubert Jarboe of Omaha, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at St. Stephen Cathedral. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Expressions on sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hospice Association, Brescia University or St. Stephen Cathedral Building Fund.
