John Houston Irby III, passed away July 9, 2016 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born February 16, 1940 to the late John Houston Irby Jr. and Lovena Irby Luther, John joined the Army and served in the Berlin and Cuban Campaign as a Fuel Service and Ammunition Operator. He was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church for over 50 years, was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Thelma Joyce Irby; sons, John Houston Irby IV (Elizabeth) of Hillsboro, OR and Mark Irby (Barbi) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Johnny Mac Irby, Amelia Irby, Bella Irby, Shepherd Irby; sisters Sherry Stone (Robert) and Kay Irby, both of Clinton, KY; sister-in-laws, Martha Hughes (Kenny) of Paducah and Edwinta Lowry (Howard) of Ripley, TN; two nieces and two nephews and a loving church family at Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Yellow Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
