John D. Head, 53, of 6073 Kentucky 144, Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System. John was born in Owensboro, a son of the late Henry H. and Alice Unsel Head. He graduated from Daviess County High School. A sportsman, John was active in the Special Olympics, participating and medaling in the softball throw, the 50-yard fast walk, and the Special Olympics Golf Buddy program. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing the organ, and was a member of Thruston United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his brothers, Derror Head and his wife Jane and Henry H. Head and his wife Donna; his sisters, Donna McDaniel, Dyann Lashbrook, Dane Zoglmann, and Dalynda Welborn, all of Owensboro, and Debbie Taliaferro and her husband Michael of Houston; a special family friend, Stan Bump; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services, officiated by the Rev. Rose Davis and the Rev. Leighton Thomison, are at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Thruston United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Memorial Fund of Thruston United Methodist Church or the Special Olympics.
