John David Hayden

January 26, 1936 — June 25, 2010

John David Hayden, 74, of Wayne Bridge Road, Owensboro, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at University of Louisville Hospital. Mr. Hayden was a native of Daviess County, born to the late James U. and Mary Edna (Fischer) Hayden. He was a retired farmer, a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Kentucky National Guard for 9 years. John loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and helping others. He also was preceded in death by sisters, Doris Jane Hayden, Betty Oberst, Mildred Ivey, and a brother, Vincent Hayden.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Josie Hayden, and his children, Susan (Bub) Zogg and Gail (Danny) Campbell of Owensboro, Joan (Pat "Doc") Thompson of Nashville, TN., Tammie (Rick) Thomas of Owensboro, Sandra (Bob) Payne of St. Joseph, Brian (Jeanne) Hayden of Owensboro, 12 grandchildren, sisters, Lucy Wright, Sue (Bill) Hill and Carol (Bill) Cecil, all of Owensboro, brothers, Norman (Judy) Hayden of Owensboro, Del (Ellen) Hayden of Bowling Green, KY., a sister in law, Linda Hayden of Owensboro, and a brother in law, Clete Oberst of Dayton, OH., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Martin Catholic Church with Fr. Pete Hughes and Fr. Tony Jones officiating. Burial will be in St. Raphael Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 6 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Passionist Nuns Monastery.
