John Daniel Frantz, 92, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at his home. He was born March 26, 1925 in St. Lawrence, KY to the late James Bernard and Sally Jackson Frantz. Mr. Frantz was retired from the American Tobacco Co. and also was a former owner and operator of Frantz Water Well Drilling Service. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was an avid Kentucky Wesleyan basketball fan and enjoyed going to the games. He also was a U. K. basketball fan and enjoyed raising a garden. Mr. Frantz was the last surviving of 11 children. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sophia Brooks Frantz on December 9, 1985 and his longtime companion, Lula Powers in May of 2010.
Surviving are his children, Deborah Frantz Redenius and companion, Michael Markovich of Owensboro, Sharon Frantz Pettit of Chattanooga, TN, and Kenneth Wayne Frantz of Owensboro, four grandchildren, David W. (Lisa) Frantz, Tonya Frantz, John (Courtney) Frantz, all of Owensboro, and Frank Redenius of Lewisport, nine great grandchildren, Joey and Jonathan Redenius, Cameron, Ashton, Alexie , and Macy Frantz, Matt and Jenae Markovich, Taylor Blandford, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Noon Thursday, July 20, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
