John W. Elliott

John W. Elliott, 102, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. John was born to Enis and Cecelia Elliott on July 3, 1911. John was retired from the Daviess County Road Department and also farmed for many years.
John was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church in Philpot. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mildred Hart Elliott; son, Wayne; daughter Rebecca; granddaughter, Rebekah Cook; two brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his children, Nancy Cook (Bud) of Philpot, Bruce Elliott (Theresa) of Owensboro, grandchildren Natalie Elliott of Owensboro, Kyle Elliott of Austin, Texas and Buddy Cook (Danna) of Philpot; two great-grandchildren, Rebekah Cook and Jessica Cook; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 10 am on Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Bro. Brian Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church building fund. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home. The family would like to especially thank Ms. Linda Boarman at Main Street Family Medicine and the staff at The Heartford House for the care and compassion provided.
