Mr. John M. Crowe, I, 74, of Owensboro passed away January 13, 2016 at his residence. He was born October 2, 1941 in Stanley, Kentucky to the late Joseph and Martha (Barr) Crowe.
Mr. Crowe was of the Catholic Faith and retired from Commonwealth Aluminum after 28 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the local VFW Post 696. He loved watching his grandkids play ball, U.K. basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.
Mr. Crowe was also preceded in death by his brothers Norbert Crowe, Joseph Crowe, Richard Crowe, Bill Crowe, Bob Crowe, and Doug Crowe.
Mr. Crowe is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Buckley Crowe; his sons John Crowe, II, and his wife Brenda and Michael Shane Crowe, all of Owensboro; four grandsons John Crowe III, Joseph Crowe, Christopher Crowe, and Devin Crowe; a step granddaughter, Christine Bartlett, a step great grandson, Bryson Bartlett, and a step great granddaughter Brooklyn Bartlett, all of Owensboro; his brothers George Crowe and his wife Norma of Columbia City, IN, Paul Crowe and his wife Theresa, and Gene Crowe and his wife Lana Rae, all of Owensboro; and his sisters Martha Zoglman and her husband Bill of Owensboro and Patsy Phelps and her husband Junior of Whitesville.
The funeral service, with Chaplain Bob Douglas officiating, will be Saturday January 16, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
