John Anthony "Jack" Crowe, 86, of Owensboro, died Friday, December 4, 2009 at Wellington Parc, in Owensboro. He was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, born November 17, 1923 to the late Martin Henry, and Nora (Diskin) Crowe, who were natives of Ireland. He graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, and served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines and Okinawa during WWII. He retired as an accountant with Western Southern Life Insurance Company after 20 years. He attended St. Stephen Cathedral.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; Martin Crowe Jr., Edward and James Crowe, and a sister; Dorothy Toohey. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.
Mr. Crowe is survived by a brother; William (Shirley) Crowe of Los Angeles, CA., and a nephew; Dr. Michael (Julie) Crowe of Owensboro, as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009 at St. Stephen Cathedral with Fr. Bill Crowe officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home. The rosary will be said before the funeral mass at 1:30 p.m. at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery with military honors. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
