John C. Crawford, 91, of Livermore, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at his home. He was born January 17, 1923 in Nowata, OK to the late John and Phyliss McCorkle Crawford. He was retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. John was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and also had been a Commander of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxilary. He enjoyed carpentry, was a C. B. radio enthusiast, reading, photography, and raising a garden. In the past, he had raced motorcycles, was a motorcycle mechanic, was a licensed private pilot, and had owned the former Kentucky Pottery Shop in Owensboro.
John was also preceded in death by his wife, Mayzell Crawford in 2001, a son, John C. Crawford III in 1986, and two sisters, Betty Collins and Harriett James.
Surviving are his children, son, George Crawford and wife Ramilyn of Livermore, three daughters, Sheila Courtney and husband Lonnie of Hawesville, Julie Forrester and husband Ronnie of Owensboro, and Aleta Hassell and husband Michael of Madisonville, five grandchildren, Krystal, Veronica, Matthew, Ashley, and John, and six great grandchildren, William, Dakota, Isabella, Trever, Hannah, and Alizabeth.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 11, at Christ Chapel in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with burial there following the service.
