John Z. Jay Bird Crabtree, 86, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, November 29, 2006 at the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Daviess County on February 28, 1920, Mr. Crabtree was a member of the First General Baptist Church; was a retired farmer and was retired from the Kentuckiana Livestock Market. He enjoyed playing cards and recycling. Mr. Crabtree was preceded in death by his parents, T.C. and Nannie Baird Crabtree and 11 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Fannie Nixon Crabtree; a daughter, Glenda Sue Boler of Cottonwood, AZ; step-daughters, Brenda (and Harry) Walker and Carolyn Glenn of Owensboro; a step-son, Gerald (and Karen) Howard of Maceo; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 P.M. Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Old Macedonia Cemetery in Panther. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. on Saturday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the First General Baptist Church Building Fund.
