John D. Byrne

John D. Byrne, Jr., 69, of Owensboro, Kentucky, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Mr. Byrne was retired from General Electric Co./MPD Inc and had worked at Barton Brands Ltd. He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Byrne, Sr. and Anna Marie Coomes Byrne and by his grandson, Scott York.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Barbara Byrne; daughter, Carla York (Rick) of Owensboro; grandsons, Jon York and Jeff York (Krissy) both of Owensboro; great-grandson, Trevor York of Owensboro; sisters, Margie Rode (Jim) of Whiteland, IN, Sister Elaine Byrne of Fancy Farm, and Mary Lou Payne (Darrell) of Knottsville; brothers, J.L. Byrne (Joan), Eddie Byrne (Alo) and Tony Byrne (Betty) all of West Daviess County; brother-in-law, Larry Sweat (Diana) of Tell City, IN; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday with prayers at 7 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or the RiverPark Center.
