John Brett

John Brett, aged 67, of Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away on November 17, 2024. Born on October 30, 1957 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Loretta and Carl Brett. John was a dedicated father, teacher, and community member. He was passionate about inspiring and engaging the students he worked with. He advocated for all of his students and his commitment extended beyond the classroom. 

Prior to teaching, John was an avid chef and business owner. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, music, singing in the choir at church, and attending sporting events. He was a caring man and always worked to give to those in need. 

John is survived by his children: Angela Johnson (Wesley), Anthony Brett (Michelle), Zachary Brett (Lauren), Samantha Morgan (Ross), and Jackson Brett (Ainsley); his beloved grandchildren: Ella, Lucy, Tucker, Briley, Sadie, Emmitt, Olivia, Sutton, Jett, and Parker; and his siblings Sharon Brett, Harold Brett, and Carla Hightower. He was preceded in death by his parents and beautiful granddaughter, Lillian Rose Johnson.

The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at Immaculate Catholic Church in Owensboro. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday with prayers at 6:00 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter.

John will be remembered for kindness, wisdom, positive outlook on life, and compassion for others.
