John Matthews Boone

John Matthews Boone, 80, of 1520 Griffith Avenue died Monday August 27, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Lexington, KY, the son of the late S.J and Elizabeth Matthews Boone, he graduated from Purdue University in 1951, retired from S.J. Boone Co. Inc., in which he was a stockholder, was an active supporter of the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Also preceding him in death was his sister, Sally Boone Moore.

Survivors include his nephew, Dr. Loran P. Moore, III and his wife Paula, of Louisville; his brother-in-law, Dr. L.P. Moore, Jr. of Owensboro; and his great-nephews Tyler Christensen and Wes Christensen, both of Louisville.

Services, officiated by the Rev. Jonathan Carroll, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the memorial fund of First Presbyterian Church.
