John Edmund Bickel

Dr. John Edmund Bickel, 81, of 1235 Woodmere Lane, Owensboro, died Thursday, December 5, 2002 at his home. The Corydon, Indiana native was a Baptist, graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, served in the Army Air Corp during W.W.II, and practiced pediatrics from 1950 - 1985, having been stricken with polio two weeks after opening his practice, and had served on the ODCH Board. He enjoyed fishing and golf.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Grace Bickel; a son, John E. Bickel, Jr. of Owensboro; a daughter, Sandra Lawson of Owensboro; a sister, Mary Catherine Harper of Fort Meyers, Florida; and two grandchildren.

Services are at 1 p. m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday and after 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
