John Harvey Bastin

John Harvey Bastin, Jr., 55, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. A member of St. John United Methodist Church, Mr. Bastin graduated from Owensboro High School, where he was a letterman on the 1967 football team. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a loyal Wildcat fan. John received his Master of Arts degree from Western Kentucky Universityand was employed by Daviess County Public Schools from 1977 until his death, teaching at Daviess County High School. His mother, Nancy Mitchell Bastin, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his father, John Harvey Bastin Sr and his stepmother Sydney Bastin. of Lexington; his brothers, Willis Nelson Bastin of Lexington and Eric Garfield Bastin of Lancaster , his grandmother, Gladys Bastin of Central City, and his Daviess County High School family.

At his request, there will be no visitation or services. There will be a memorial program at 7:30 a.m. Friday, January 28th in the Daviess County High School auditorium. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Daviess County High School, 4255 New Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303 where a one-time scholarship will be given in his memory, or to the Owensboro-Daviess County Humane Society at 3101 West Second Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.
