John Edward Ams, 91, resident of the Carmel Home, formerly of Wesleyan Park Drive, Owensboro, passed away Friday, September 16, 2005. He was born February 12, 1914 in Daviess County to the late Mary Christine (Schaefer) Ams and John Edward Ams, Sr. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, American School of Designing in Chicago, he also obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fine Arts from Brescia College. Mr. Ams retired from Fleischman Distillery Corp. after 39 years. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary for more then 40 years. He was a gifted artist and model ship builder. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Alice Ams, and an aunt Ada Schaefer.
Mr. Ams is survived by a sister, Helen Louise Lambert of Owensboro; a nephew, Paul R. Lambert (Joyce) of Chesterfield, Missouri; two nieces, Rebecca Lambert Carrico (David) of Owensboro and Janice Lambert Matthis of Owensboro; six great nephews; four great nieces; four great-great nieces and four great-great nephews.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2005 at Immaculate Catholic Church with entombment following at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September, 18, 2005 at Glenn Funeral Home and also after 8:30 a.m. Monday. Prayers will be said at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
