John William Adcock

July 10, 1922 — July 13, 2014

John William Adcock, 92, recently of Lexington, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Sayre Christian Village in Lexington. He was born on July 10, 1922 in McLean Co., KY to the late Willie L. and Farrie Hudson Adcock. He was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church and was retired from the Owensboro City School System after 25 1/2 years as Supervisor of Grounds and Maintenance. He also had worked at Glenmore Distillaries and after retiring from the School system, he had a lawnmowing service. John was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Woodford, Robert, Raymond, and Arthur Adcock, and Virginia Underwood and Veda Peters.

He is survived by a daughter, Gwendolyn Parks and her husband Kyle of Lexington, a granddaughter, Kristina Bradley and her husband Ben of Lexington, a sister, Mildred Higgs Bowen of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 15, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
