Joe D. Sharp, 85, of 4404 Lake Forrest Drive, Owensboro, KY 42303 died Thursday June 28, 2001 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Muhlenberg County on December 29, 1915, he was the son of the late William D. and Clem Danks Sharp.
He was retired from Green River Steel as Superintendent of Shipping after 27 years. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church, Centertown Masonic Lodge and a 32nd Degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruby May Coombs Sharp; one daughter, Mrs. James R. Joyce Mason; one grandson, Randy Mason; three great-grandchildren; three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday June 30, 2001 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends at Glenn Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday June 29, 2001 and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
