Joe F. Dukes, 71, of 4435 Palatine Way, Owensboro, died Tuesday, September 6,2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System. The Muhlenburg County native was the son of the late Joseph and Hettie (Harper) Dukes, and was retired from Modern Welding. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and attended Crosspointe Baptist Church. He enjoyed rabbit hunting, camping, fishing and spending time with his five grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frieda B. Dukes, a son Doyle (Cathy) Dukes of Owensboro; daughter Rhonda (Curtis) Wells of Calhoun; grandsons, Brandon Dukes of Owensboro, Zachary Wells of Calhoun, Justin Dukes of Owensboro, Nathan and Nolan Wells of Calhoun; a brother, Wilmoth Dukes of Akron, Ohio; sisters Earline (Buel) Drake of Central City, Edna Mae (C.E.) Amos of Newburgh, Indiana, Anna Jean Fulkerson of Greenville, Kentucky and Betty Lou (Junior) Foster of Greenville; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Morris of Bremen; brothers and sistersin-law, Janice Mercer of Central City, Harold Morris of Bremen, David Morris of Seymour, Tennessee, and Regina Tapp of Sebree, and a special little buddy, Gavin Crabtree, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Crosspointe Baptist Church Building Fund.
