Joan Nix Woolen, 72, of 1917 West Second Street, Owensboro, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at her home. She was a Hancock County native, born to the late John Nathan, and Mildred (Harris) Nix, and was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church. She exercised at the Elizabeth Mundy center, and on Tuesdays, she had girls day out with her girlfriends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie Nix, and sisters, Beverly Needler and Billie Faye Huckleberry
She is survived by a son, Barry Gene Woolen of Owensboro,a daughter, Reanah Tongate and husband Bob of Grand Rivers, Ky., her companion of ten years, Elmer Hunt of Owensboro brothers, Bennie Nix and wife Nita of Grand Rivers, Jimmy Nix and wife Judy of Hudson, Fl., and a sister, Sue Ham and husband Bud of Oklahoma City, Ok., her grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith and husband Jason, Sara Fort, Dustin Woolen, Tori York, and great-grandchildren, Trevor York, Taylor Smith and Halle Langevin.
Memorial services will be held at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation before from 12 to 4 p.m., Thursday. Interment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association Inc. Memorial Fund.
