Joan Seelbach Hofmann, 86, of Owensboro, peacefully departed this world on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born in Louisville to the late Julius C. and Marie Davenport Seelbach. Joan was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert A. Hofmann, a son, Thomas L. Hofmann, a grandson, Benjamin Hofmann, a granddaughter, Amber Hofmann, a brother, David Seelbach and a sister, Betty Prestigiacomo, and a daughter-in-law, Tammie Hofmann.
Joan’s life was a testament to faith and her family. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and was retired as an emergency room technician at Owensboro Medical Health System, touching countless lives with her kind heart.
Joan’s true joy resided in her family. Sunday lunches were a cherished tradition; there was always room for one more at the table. There was often a line for a scoop of Grandma’s mashed potatoes and fresh cinnamon sugar pinwheels from the oven. Known for her generosity and hospitality, Joan’s home was always open and she welcomed all who needed her with open arms and a comforting presence.
Joan had a special affection for elephants and loved telling bedtime stories of magic butterflies. In her final years, Joan found solace in caring for her fur baby, Bradley, whose companionship brought her immense joy and comfort.
Joan is survived by her children, sons Mark A. Hofmann, John R. Hofmann, Eric M. (Andria) Hofmann, and Donald J. (Kerri) Hofmann; daughters Anne M. ( Scott) Baumgardner and Julie M. (Bill) Boyd, 21 grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Bob (Mary Agnes) Seelbach and Tony (Catherine) Seelbach, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be 10 AM Friday, April 5, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 7 PM with prayers at 5 PM Thursday and from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM Friday, all at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
In remembrance of Joan’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Heartford House, c/o Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301 or to Blessed Mother Catholic Church, 601 E. 23rd.
