Joan Carol Beard

Joan Carol Beard, 75, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on April 18, 1934 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Louis and Clarice Jeffries Wilson. She retired from the Owensboro Public School System after 25 years and then later retired from the K-Mart Corp. She was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church and was a 33 year Breast Cancer survivor. She enjoyed doing many things with her husband and family such as fishing, riding motorcycles, and traveling while Leo was in the service. She also loved watching U. K. basketball and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Leo Beard on June 19, 2009 and her mother that raised her, Florence Wilson in 1986.

Surviving are three sons, Don Beard, Bill Beard, and Jeff Beard, all of Owensboro, a daughter, Teresa Bays and husband Jeff of New Salisbury, IN, seven grandchildren, Jason Buskill and wife Laura, Aleisha Beard, Lindsey Atherton, Hunter Beard, Destinee Beard, Devon Beard, and Jasmine Beard, and a great grandson, Carson Teasley, all of Owensboro, and a brother and sister-in-law, Helen and Basil Jackson of Owensboro.

Services will be 12 Noon Monday, March 1, in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
