Jo Ann Harl, 88, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday October 16, 2024 while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. She was born February 26, 1936 in Daviess County to the late Thomas Victor and Mary Edna Hines Millay. Jo Ann was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and was retired from sales with Foy Paint and Wallpaper. She enjoyed square dancing and was an avid collector of old glass and dolls which she sold in her booth at Consumer Mall along with her late sister Mary Lee England and late friend Geneva Ambrose. Jo Ann loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also was a big supporter of St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children.
Jo Ann was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lee England and four brothers, James Richard Millay, Charlie Millay, Larry Millay, and John Millay.
Surviving is her husband of 68 years, Dwight Eugene “Gene” Harl; daughter Vickie Henderson and son Steve Harl, both of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Michael Henderson, Leigh Ann Haner, and Kristen Miller; five great grandchildren, Wyatt and Cole Haner, Adalyn Miller, and Braylen and Landon Miller; her siblings, Franey Bidwell (Jerry) of Glasgow, Dorothy Harl and Linda Millay, both of Owensboro, David Millay (Mary) and Bill Millay (Marcia), all of Owensboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Noon Friday, October 18, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with entombment following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the service Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
