Jo Ann Fortner, 65, of Philpot, died, Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at the Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native was a member of the South Hampton Baptist Church and was retired from the Owensboro Board of Education where she worked for 43 years21 years at Foust Elementary and 22 years at Central Office. She was a member of the Association of Educational Office Personnel at the local, state and national level and had served as association president at all levels. She was an avid KY Wesleyan fan and enjoyed church activities and her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry Wayne Fortner of Philpot, Robert Andrew Fortner of Evansville, and Mark Anthony Fortner of Owensboro; a daughter, Susan Beatrice Stites of Owensboro; eight grandchildren; and five sisters, Betty Lee Adams, Janice A. Dickens, Janet A. Williamson, and Vicki Lynn Howard all of Owensboro, and Molly E. Libby Shelton of Cabool, MO.
Funeral services are 2 P.M., Thursday, March 6, 2003 at the South Hampton Baptist Church 2949 South Hampton Rd., Owensboro with burial in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Glenn Funeral Home from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday and after 12 Noon Thursday at the church.
