Jimmie Keown Snyder

Jimmie Keown Snyder, 81, died Tuesday, February 28, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. Born September 15, 1924, she was a native and lifelong resident of Owensboro. She lived at Rivers Bend Retirement Community in Kuttawa for the past six years.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Rowland Pagan of Lexington, and Gay Nell and Jesse Case of Princeton; and one son and daughter-in-law, Sheryl Snyder and Jessica Loving of Louisville.

She was cherished by her seven grandchildren, Jason Snyder, Elizabeth Snyder Fickler, Matthew Snyder, Jon Paul Pagan, Clay Pagan, Les Case and Jill Case Harper; and by her great-granddaughter, Meredith Grace Snyder.

Survivors also include a sister, Nancy Stuart, her friend and former husband, George T. Snyder, a niece and six nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl Bivins Horrell and George R. Keown; a sister, Michael Coons; a brother, Mark Estes Jr.; and a very special grandmother, Viola Bivins.

A member of the Ridgewood Baptist Church, Jimmie Snyders Christian beliefs were the foundation for her life. She looked for the good in everyone and everything. She was an empathetic listener, a people-builder, and an eternal optimist. She could find the humor in any situation. She loved life and knew it would not end with her death.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Glenn Funeral Home, with visitation on Friday from 2-8 p.m. Burial will follow at the Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Clay Stuart, George Stuart, Bill Stuart, Bruce Francis, Jesse Case and Rowland Pagan.
