Jimmie Coil, 85, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born January 21, 1927, he was a devoted husband and father, was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church; and was retired from a long career at ALCOA Aluminum as an electrician. Mr. Coil served in the Army and was stationed in Italy immediately following World War II. His hobby was knife making and many of them are a work of art. His favorite sports teams were the UK Wildcats and the St. Louis Cardinals both reigning national champions. He was preceded in death by sisters, Eileen Garrison of Mayfield and Lucille Cockrum of Deluge, MO.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Estelle Coil; a son, James Coil of Lexington; a daughter, Linda Keith (Sonny) of Owensboro; and grandchildren, Katie Johns (Chris), Andy Keith, Jessica Coil, and Ashley Coil.
Services are 12 noon Monday, June 18, 2012 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Franklin Skaggs and Brother Jim Nelson officiating followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday and after 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
