Jim Hodgkins

Jim Hodgkins, 69, of Owensboro, passed away May 23, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born August 17, 1949, in Whitesville to the late Philip and Ada Payne Hodgkins. Jim was also preceded in death by his brother, John Hodgkins. Jim retired from OMU after 25+ years of service as a warehouse supervisor. He was of the Catholic faith and an active member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. He served as a parish picnic chairman, choir member, lector, parish council member, usher, eucharistic minister, on the cooking team, and was a faithful church collection counter. Jim was the local and regional treasurer for St. Vincent DePaul. He was a skilled woodworker and known for his big, strong bear hugs. Jim loved fiercely and was fiercely loved. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rose Fischer Hodgkins; daughters, Amy (Daniel) Stone and their children, Damon and Aidan, Dr. Julie (Dr. Bryce) Schuster and their children, Halle and Burke, and Stefani Hodgkins and her children, Drew, Elise, and Kellen; sons, Jimmy (Julie) Hodgkins and their children, Lucy and Max, and Chris (Sam) Hodgkins; and sisters, Mary Jane Rudisill and Phyllis (Marty) Peter.

The funeral mass will be 11am Tuesday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Clark officiating. Visitation will be 3pm to 7pm Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with prayers at 6pm, and from 9am until 11am Tuesday at the church. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Blessed Mother Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul, or Brescia University.
