Jesse Michael Newcomb, 83, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on February 1st, 2025, at the Rucki Hospice Care Center in Zephyrhills, Florida. Born on the home farm in Owensboro, Kentucky on January 14, 1942, to the late Jesse Boswell and Edna Wigginton Newcomb. Jesse, lovingly called “Micky” by his close friends and family, was the youngest of three children, Wilda Jean (Marshall) Stephens, and Larry Joe (Pat Ballard) Newcomb.

He graduated from Daviess County High School in 1960, Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics, and he attended the Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He served as a Naval Officer on the USS Washoe County LST-1165, stationed in Yokosuka, Japan during the Vietnam War, and later as Commanding Officer of the Naval Reserve Center in Bloomington, Indiana.

Jesse spent his career in Sales and Marketing at Indiana Bell Telephone before retiring in 1996. Since January 2009, he and Jo Nell spent the winter months at Travelers Rest RV and Golf Resort near Dade City, Florida with endless golf, dear friendships, and warm sunshine.

Preceded in death by his parents Jesse Boswell and Edna Wigginton Newcomb, brother Larry Joe and wife Pat, and brother-in-law Marshall R. Stephens.

Jesse is survived by his loving wife Jo Nell of almost 63 years of marriage, their two children Michael Keith (Cora) Newcomb and Melissa Jo (Troy) Dewar, two grandchildren Sarah Kathryn Dewar and Evan Troy Dewar.
