Jerry Sumner, 67, of Owensboro, died Friday, May 21, 2010 at his home. He was born June 15, 1942 to the late Aaron and Helen Rowan Sumner in Daviess County. He was a member and the "candy man" at Bethabara Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, drawing and was a UK basketball fan.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betsy Sumner; two daughters, Patty Wells and her husband, Andy of Owensboro, and Sheri Williams and her husband, Bryan of Bardstown; six grandchildren, Beth Helton, Jill Wall, Kristin Palazzi, Lee Williams, Marc Williams, and Nick Wells; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Carolyn Ford and her husband, Bill of Habit, his aunt, Geneva May of Owensboro; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog, Sandi.
Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday and after 9:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethabara Baptist Church, 2946 Hwy 142, Philpot, KY 42366, or to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
