Jerry Dean Hofer

August 13, 1928 — January 14, 2013

Jerry Dean Hofer, 84, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Wellington Parc. Born August 13, 1928 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Gus and Ruth Hofer. Mr. Hofer was a retired salesman in the carpet business in Kansas City, Mo. He was a big KC Chiefs fan and also loved boating at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family. His real passion was playing golf every chance he had, where it is suspected he invented the "root rule" and the "quick draw mulligan." He lost his wife, Irene, the love of his life last June. He will be truly missed by all his family and friends.

Surviving are his children, Dr. Jeffrey Hofer and wife Lynn of Owensboro, Jerry Hofer and wife Sharon of Lynn Haven, FL, and Christine Renuard and husband Richard of Jacksonville, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Jason (Betsy) Hofer, Jill (Andy) Labanauskas, Rachel Hofer, Kaitlyn Hofer, Cale Harden, Riggs Tolson, and Sara Kingsley Tolson; and a brother, Leland Hofer of St Louis.

A special thanks to those who cared for Mr. Hofer at Wellington Parc and his home sitters who all treated him with love and respect.

Services were private with Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 2042, Owensboro, KY 42302.
