Jerry D. DeSpain of Owensboro died Monday, November 20, 2017 surrounded by his family at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was 77. Jerry was born February 19, 1940 In Paducah, KY to Thomas Harry DeSpain and Alice Pauline Watson DeSpain. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Robert DeSpain and a sister, Vitrude DeSpain.
He was an entrepreneur, having owned and operated several businesses. They included Roffler of Kentucky for 13 years. Most recently he co-owned with his wife Carolyn the Beltone Hearing Aid Center of Owensboro for 30 years. He was a member of Christ the Redeemer Reformed Anglican Church. He was a past member of the board of directors of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and a member of the board of directors of the Heartland Homeowners Association. Jerry was a past member of the Paducah Jaycees and the Paducah Kiwanis Club.
His is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Shewcraft DeSpain; his sister Dorothy Parrott of Grand Rivers, KY; his sisters-in-law Betty Hodges of Marion, KY and Donna DeSpain of Frankfort; a very close nephew Jarvis Morrow of Henderson; his niece Jamey LaVon Bowen of Nashville, TN; and many more nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Services are 2:00 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. Friday until the time of service. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
