Jerome A. Fenwick, 82, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born June 12, 1925 in a log cabin in near St. Joseph, he was raised by his grandparents, the late Rapheal and Heleon Fenwick; was retired from Field Packing Company after 27 years where he worked a variety of jobs including shipping and maintenance; was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral; and was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Fenwick was a country boy at heart and loved gardening, feeding the animals, and was able to build or fix anything. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Fenwick, brothers, Elmer, Isaac and Gustie Fenwick and half-brothers, J.R. and James Pryor.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wilma Carter Fenwick; daughters, Frances (and Kenneth) Howell, Beverly (and Dennis) Cecil, and Louise (and Tom) Bomgardner all of Owensboro and Jean (and Mike) Vincenc of St. Louis; sons, Daniel (and Juanita) Fenwick of West College Corner, IN and James Thomas (and Janie) Fenwick of Owensboro; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and half-sisters, Christine Hinton of Owensboro and Loretta Frailley of Calhoun.
The funeral mass will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at St. Stephen Cathedral with Father John Vaughan officiating followed by burial in Calhoun Cemetery. Please join the family to celebrate Mr. Fenwick's life from 4-8 P.M. on Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home. There will be prayers for Mr. Fenwick at 6 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
