Jennifer M. Gibbs

Jennifer M. Gibbs, 42, of Owensboro, passed away after her long battle with breast cancer on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Owensboro to John and Jeanette Schartung.

Jennifer was a graduate of Brescia University and employed at Alcoa. She previously worked for Gibbs Die Casting. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and a former member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. Jennifer loved spending time with family, especially the children. Her kids were her world. She was an amazing woman who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She touched more lives than she will ever know.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette Schartung; a sister, Jackie Schartung; and a step-son, Lynn Gibbs.

Jennifer is survived by her husband of 17 years, Mike Gibbs; a daughter, Morgan Gibbs; sons, Jared and Grant Gibbs; her father, John Schartung; a sister, Jessie Schartung; brothers, Jeff Schartung (Nikki), John Schartung, III (Sondra), and Jason Schartung (Kristie), all of Owensboro; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be at 2 PM on Monday, March 24 at First Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Hall will officiate. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. The visitation on Monday will be from 12-2 at the church.
