Jeffrey Derrick Christian

Jeffrey "Derrick" Christian, 35, of Gonzales, Louisiana, formerly of Owensboro passed away Saturday, October 7. He was born August 5, 1982 in Daviess County to Jeffrey Christian and Carla Millay Mercer. Derrick graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Southern Indiana. He grew up being super competitive in everything he did including athletics. He pursued physical fitness (he recently ran a sub 5 minute mile) and especially enjoyed skydiving. Derrick would make a competition out of anything and would create his own games and encourage others to participate. He loved music and attending music festivals but always had time to help others and give of his time and talents. He loved his siblings and mentored them throughout his life.

Mr. Christian was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jude "Buck" Millay.

Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Jeff Christian and wife Lydia of Gonzales, Louisiana; mother, Carla Mercer and husband Ben of Owensboro; brothers, Chase and Sam Boarman; sisters, Megan Robinson and husband Charles, Grace and Rachael Christian; step brother, Luke Grange; grandparents, Joetta Millay and Bill and Katie Christian; step grandparents, Ed and Lydia Stanfield; niece, Ariel Robinson; nephew, Ashton Boarman; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The funeral mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville with Father Brian Roby officiating. Burial will be at St. Williams Cemetery in Knottsville. Visitation will be Friday 3:00 to 8:00 PM with prayers at 6:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home Crematory.
