Jeffery James Smith, 58, of Owensboro, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord October 9, 2016. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late Virgil and Dorothy Kuipers Smith. He was the owner of Smitty's Small Engine Repair and was of the Baptist faith. Jeff loved fishing, gardenin' and yardenin', the movies Jeremiah Johnson and Coalminer's Daughter, and spending time with his family, especially his grand-daughter.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Tammy Smith. Jeff was the love of Tammy's life. He is also survived by his daughter, who says he was "the best father in the world," Ashley, and her husband, Robert-Joseph and their daughter Hadley-Renee; brothers, Mike (Dawn Wright), Doug (Cheryl), and David (Angie) Smith; and a nephew, Nathan Smith.
Services will be Thursday, October 13, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, and Thursday at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
