Jeanne Waggoner Pollock

Jeanne Waggoner Pollock, 87, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Carmel Home. Born in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Carrie Bryner Waggoner, graduated from Thompsontown High School where she was Valedictorian of her class, and graduated from Elizabethtown College. Mrs. Pollock moved to Owensboro in 1950 with her husband, William, who was employed at General Electric.

A registered medical technologist, she worked for Drs Yarborough, Schupbach, Hast and Tyler in Owensboro and was instrumental in developing Hospice here. Mrs. Pollock was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, a former member of Evening Star Homemakers and a pastoral volunteer for some years at Mercy Hospital and Owensboro Medical Health System.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Pollock and a brother, John Waggoner.

Surviving are sons, Bruce (Marilyn) Pollock of Lexington, Roger (Susan) Pollock of Asheville, NC, and David (Nancy Schell) Pollock of Toledo, OH; grandchildren, Lauren (Jeff) Budziak of Hilliard, OH and Jon Pollock of Columbus, OH; and her dear friend, Kelly Husk of Owensboro.

The family will celebrate Jeanne's life and receive friends in the fellowship hall of Zion United Church of Christ at 7th and Allen Streets from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2010. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Duncan Newcomer officiating. Interment will be in Pennsylvania.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carmel Home, the Memorial Fund of Zion United Church of Christ, or the donor's favorite charity.

The family expresses their gratitude to the wonderful staff of the Carmel Home, especially Jami, and to Jeanne's personal caregivers, Ruby, Mary, Joyce, Pat, Lavada, Denise, and Debbie.
