Sister Jean Catherine Purdy, 92, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, of Maple Mount, KY, died November 11, 2001, at Mount Saint Joseph Motherhouse. She was in her 74th year of religious life.
A teacher for 50 years, the Curdsville, KY, native taught at St. William School, Knottsville; St. Anthony School, Browns Valley; Blessed Mother School, Owensboro; and St. Sebastian School, Calhoun; in Earlington, Central City, Louisville, St. Francis, Bardwell, Flaherty, and Peonia, KY; and in Jeffersonville, IN, and San Fidel, NM.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews and the members of her religious community.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at Mount Saint Joseph Chapel, Maple Mount, KY. Burial will be in the convent cemetery at Maple Mount. Visitaion is after 4 p.m. Monday, November 12, in the Mount Saint Joseph Chapel. A wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, also in the chapel. Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro, is in charge of arrangements.
