Jean Decker Purdy, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born May 1, 1927 in Oakland City, Indiana to the late Gerald and Doris Nadine Thompson Decker. Jean had previously worked for the County Court Clerk's Office in Lawrence County, Illinois and was a charter member of Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church. She was an avid U.K. basketball fan and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean was also preceded in death by her husband, James Clifford Purdy on September 3, 2015.
Surviving are her sons, Philip Decker Purdy and wife Linda of Leavenworth, Kansas and Mark James Purdy and wife Claire of Akron, Ohio, two grandsons, Christopher James Purdy and wife Telisa of Olathe, Kansas and Jonathan Mark Purdy and wife Sara of Derby, Kansas, five great grandchildren, Gwynna Lynn and Philip Drew Purdy, both of Olathe, and Rylee Jean, Emma Marie, and Henry Decker Purdy, all of Derby.
Services will be Noon Thursday, May 24, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with entombment following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
