Jean Campbell Kirk, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on December 11, 2017, while surrounded by her loved ones at the Heartford House, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born April 6, 1956, in Provo, Utah, to the late Mayna and Bud Campbell.
Jean was an avid reader, lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed gardening, especially her herb garden. She was a great cook - pecan pies were a specialty - a great listener, and could also be trusted to give her honest opinion. Her dedication to youth was demonstrated in her active involvement in the PTA and as a longtime member of the Eastern Little League board of directors, where her leadership ensured that boys and girls had the opportunity to learn the value of teamwork while competing in an atmosphere of good sportsmanship. More than anything else, Jean was dedicated to her family. Her support was the foundation of their successes.
She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Dorothy Grace Campbell.
Jean is survived by her husband of 42 years, David O. Kirk of Owensboro; son, David Campbell Kirk (Jessica) of Owensboro; a daughter, Kate Grap and granddaughter Carolyn, both of Lexington; and eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 till 7pm at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with a celebration of Life being held by the family at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Jean Kirk Memorial Fund, and Spay-A-Stray (SASO), in honor of Kelly O' Conner, P.O. Box 6012 Owensboro, KY 42302-0612.
